After walking the wall, we went to tour Clifford's Tower.
The stairs were narrow and winding making them hard to maneuver. I can't image climbing up and down those stairs wearing suits of armor and such.
These pictures were taken on the "wall-walk" on top of Clifford's Tower. This was used as a vantage point for the guards. Now it serves as a wonderful panoramic view point.
This was once the impressive keep of York Castle and was built during the reign of Henry III (1216-72). It was reduced to a shell after a fire in 1684. Eventually, most of the castle buildings were swept away when a new prison and court were built in the 18th & 19th centuries, leaving Clifford's Tower as an isolated relic of York Castle.

That afternoon we ate a place called "The Golden Fleece".
Alex and I shared roastbeef and Yorkshire pudding. It was one of the best meals we had. We then walked over to the York Minster and enjoyed a brief look inside. We toured the York Minster another day and will share those pictures later.
