Our Trip to England - Day 6

This is our trip to Castle Howard. It was about 15 miles from where we were staying so Alex had the priviledge of driving again. Here is a picture just to document that he did indeed drive on the right side of the vehicle on the left side of the road. He did pretty well and only knocked a few side mirrors on the parked cars...luckily no damage done. Oh, and did I mention that he was driving a manual transmission? Yeah, let's just make a confusing situation that much more challenging.

Castle Howard was built in the 1700's and the family still lives there today.

Different views of the outside.

Pictures taken while wandering the grounds.

Castle Howard is actually considered an Estate. A fire burned a portion of the estate and this was never rebuilt. It is used as a display of the lineage of the home. This was extremely interesting to read about all the people who have lived there. Some of the feats of the women of Castle Howard were really quite impressive. After spending time reading, we ventured into the actual Estate for our tour.

For the younger visitors, they had a scavenger hunt. Madison loved hunting the estate trying to find all the pictures. She did a great job and found every single one. This is a picture of her finding one of the pictures.
